Play-Based, Culturally Responsive Learning
Decades of research show that when students’ basic psychological needs for autonomy, competence, and connection are met, they are more motivated to learn and more likely to achieve positive academic outcomes (Ryan & Deci, 2020). Our program model was intentionally designed to incorporate participatory, inquiry-based, and play-based learning approaches.

A Thoughtfully Designed Curriculum
At ABC to PhD Saturday Academy, we believe that children learn best through active engagement, exploration, and meaningful connections. Our program is designed to cultivate academic excellence in literacy, math, and science through a play-based, culturally responsive approach that meets students where they are and empowers them to thrive. Each session includes a balanced mix of foundational learning, skill-building activities, and enrichment opportunities tailored to meet students’ unique needs.
Our curriculum, thoughtfully designed by Chief Curriculum and Program Strategy Officer, Tia Watkins, M.Ed., is age-appropriate, research-based, and student-centered, ensuring that children build critical skills while fostering a love for learning.
